Roofing FAQs
Answers to the questions Easton homeowners and landlords ask us most.
Common questions
Do you cover my street?
We cover Easton and the surrounding areas, including Lawrence Hill, Greenbank, Redfield, Whitehall, St George, Eastville, Barton Hill and St Werburghs, and work across the city and surrounding areas. If you are unsure, call 0800 494 7291 or send the form.
How quickly can you come out?
For active leaks and storm damage we aim to attend the same day where we can. For quotes on planned work we arrange a time that suits you.
Are your quotes free?
Yes. Every quote is free and in writing, with what we found, what we will do and what it costs.
Why don’t you publish prices?
Because access, covering, leadwork and what is under the old roof vary so much between houses. Our roofing cost guide explains what drives the price.
What guarantee do you give?
New roofs and full re-covers carry a 20 year written guarantee. Repairs are guaranteed in writing for a period stated on the quote.
My house has a parapet at the front and no gutter I can see. Where does the water go?
Into a concealed gutter behind the parapet, which drains through an outlet to a downpipe. These gutters are a very common leak source on older Easton houses and need checking and clearing.
Do I need planning permission to re-roof?
Replacing a roof like for like on an ordinary house usually doesn’t need planning permission. Listed buildings and some conservation area work are different, so check with Bristol City Council if your house may be affected. We will flag it if we think so.
I am a landlord. Can you provide a written report?
Yes. We provide written quotes and, where useful, a written report of the roof’s condition and the work done, which is handy for your records under Bristol’s property licensing schemes.
Do you work on flat roofs?
Yes. We mostly fit single-piece EPDM rubber membranes on rear additions, dormers, garages and post-war homes.
Can you match my old clay pantiles or slates?
Usually, from reclaimed or new stock. If an exact match isn’t possible, we tell you before fitting.
Do you deal with insurance claims?
We provide photos and a written report of storm damage to support your claim. The claim itself is between you and your insurer.
